Nicola Corso is a New York-based performer, composer, and arranger, currently a part of the BMI Jazz Composer’s Workshop. Born in 1974, he first picked up the trumpet as a boy in Campobasso (Italy), then switching to electric bass when he discovered jazz music at the age of 19. He studied with some of the most renowned teachers and attended the Berklee summer clinics in Perugia, during Umbria Jazz Festival. In 2000 he moved to London and spent there more than two years. In the British capital he played in concerts with artists coming from the melting pot of musical influences that a city like London has to offer. He was a permanent member of the quintet led by trumpeter Paul Batik, that was performing every weeks at the Effra Hall in Brixton. He regularly collaborated with Quentin Collins, Paolo Losi, Adriano Adewale, Sebastian Rochford, Jonny Phillips, Luca Tozzi and attended the harmony and arrangement course at Morley College.
Back in Italy, he rejoined the musicians of his area, began collaborating with the Molise Symphony Orchestra, took up the double bass and had the opportunity to share the stage with great artists including: Nigel Price, Mike Applebaum, Nate Birkey, Maurizio Giammarco, Alfonso and Sandro Deidda, Daniele Scannapieco, Max Ionata, Giovanni Amato, Diana Torto, Jerry Popolo, Lello Panico, Antonello Vannucchi, etc. He has performed at the following festivals: II National Youth Orchestras Jazz Festival of Italy 1994, Umbria Jazz Winter #3, Eddie Lang Jazz Festival 2004 - 2007 – 2008 - 2009, Villa Celimontana Jazz Festival 2009, Lucca Jazz Donna 2010, World Music Project 2012, Rocca in Jazz 2013.

He participated in the CD recording of "Occidente – Perosi Musici", and as a member of the group "BLUETIME", he won the competition "BargaJazz 09" cat. D (groups), and recorded the CD "Lite Blue", released by Japanese label King International Inc. Moreover he won, together with the “Sala’s 4t”, the National Arts Award 2009.

Since he was named the winner of the Composition and Arranging Competition dedicated to Kenny Wheeler (Barga, 2007), Nicola has been causing major waves in the jazz orchestra writing, being nominated prize winner or finalist in many international competitions around the world.
